Arisaema sikokianum - emerging plant &
The Japanese Arisaema sikokianum is one of the
and showiest species of hardy Arisaema, easily
grown in New England, USDA Zone 5. At first
emergence the flowers appear near black on the
outside, giving strong contrast to the remarkable
golfball-like white spadix and white interior to the
flowers. The leaves are thickish and leathery,
emerging from mottled snake-skin sheaths.
