Another of the recent introductions from China is
Corydalis elata. Said to be similar to C. flexuosa,
another popular Chinese corydalis, C. elata is
a much taller, upright growing species with equally
lovely clear blue flowers appearing in July on 24"
(60 cm) stems. The flowers are richly perfumed. In
this photo, the flowers are just starting to open.

A tall species, the clusters of small bright blue flowers
become tinged with purple.  In warm sunshine, the flowers
are richly scented like sweet Gardenia and coconut, a
distinct yet deliciously definitive aroma.
