Allium altyncolicum
(a chive relative)

Allium altyncolicum
- this C. Asian species was only recently described, and is
very close to chives, A. schoenoprasum and ledebourianum. The fresh foliage is
immediately distinct in it's growth habit, being erect and nearly blue in color.
The flowers too, are reminiscent of chives, but appear as oversized shuttlecock
heads of lively light lavender pink; the individual florets much larger than is
typical for chives or A. schoenoprasum.
