Allium platycaule - with bee copyright 2000 Mark McDonough

In this photo, the buds are beginning to open. The showy
flowers are lightly scented and attract bees and other early
pollinators. The photo was taken mid May.  The two
expanding flower buds near the top, just left of center,
is Allium falcifolium, an allied species often confused
with A. platycaule, but with a distinctly different look to
the inflorescence.
